Haidian District released a new property management system which will improve Beijing’s urban governance. The system was awarded by the Chinese Society for Surveying Mapping and Geoinformation last October.

Houses are the supporting foundation of social development and the underlying framework of a smart city. With the development of such a platform, the commission gradually realized that a property lifecycle management system should include not only longitudinal management but also horizontal information transmission, according to the Haidian Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. There are now nearly 100 house ownership files in the system, accompanied by data from real estate development and property management.

The first phase of the system includes an integrated management platform, consulting and complaint center, and related systems. Some data will be shared and exchanged with the departments of police, tax, quality supervision and urban government. At present, the system covers housing construction area of 140 million square meters, 250,000 buildings and 1363 property projects.

Over the past two years, Haidian invested more than 20 million yuan (about $3.04 million) in developing new systems, on the basis of advanced technologies and ideas, including the Internet of Things, Internet, big data, cloud computing and Internet plus, aiming to make property management smart and contribute to the capital development.

In 2012, with the background of “Smart Haidian”, the district government attempted a new system of property lifecycle management. At the end of 2014, the system was finished and passed the final check by experts from Peking University, Tsinghua University and Chinese Academy of Sciences.
